I have this experience where I was confidently wearing three-inch wedge sandals. While I was walking, I accidentally stepped on a rock and I tripped on my foot. The pain in my ankles was excruciating and I started panicking. No one knew that I had the mini accident and I was so embarrassed to ask for help. My mom saw me and told me to sit down. When I sat, I started worrying about the pain and different horrifying scenarios came into my mind where it came to the point that I can’t breathe and I passed out. That was my first time experiencing an anxiety attack. I surely didn’t know how to deal with anxiety.
It cannot be denied that in this life, we will encounter difficult situations where we experience anxiety – the feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about an uncertain result or outcome. Scientifically speaking, anxiety is the body’s natural response to possible harmful or worrying scenarios. When we are in a stressful situation, the brain responds by producing hormones that prepare the body to fight or flee. However, even if this is the case, excessive anxiety hinders us from achieving certain goals and plans.

Expert gives away secret to dealing with anxiety
Are you looking for a solution to dissolve anxiety and panic attacks? An expert, medical researcher
Dealing with anxiety is one of the most difficult things a person can experience. No matter how hard you fight it, there are times that the fear and worry anxiety brings in our mind reflects in our actions and outputs. Some say that we have to choose to feel confident in stressful situations but sometimes, even if we did convince ourselves, anxiety still gets the best of us. It is even more difficult when you’re a Christian because Christians are expected to be confident in Jesus. But most of the time, that is not the case. We still feel anxious.
So how do we deal with anxiety? What are the ways for us to fight it? Let me share with you 5 effective ways on how to deal with anxiety.
Pray
Whenever we start to feel anxious, our first response should not be to entertain the feeling. We should first pray.
I had anxiety attacks before but I was able to overcome it by praying. Whenever I start to overthink and entertain horrifying thoughts about the issue, I trained myself to pray first. Prayer helped me put my mind in the right perspective of things.
When you pray, you are talking to the One who understands you the most. He knows what you are going through. He knows that you are scared and that you worry. So when you pray, you are actually humbling yourself, acknowledging before Him that it is too overwhelming for you. And guess what? He is delighted that you seek His help in your situation. Whenever you start to feel anxious, surrender it to God and pray. Trust that He is more than willing to save you from it.
A Proactive Way to Deal With Anxiety

Memorizing Verses that Deal With Anxiety
Another technique on how to deal with anxiety was memorizing verses that would speak against it. Whenever I am in a situation or event where I start to feel anxious, I recite verses in my mind that would remind me not to be anxious. The verse I usually say out loud is Philippian 4:6 and 1 Peter 5:7. These verses calm me every time I feel anxious because they remind me that I can present my request to God and that God cares for me.
I suggest that you gather verses that would help you fight anxiety. There are a lot of these verses that you can read in the bible. You can even search online lists of verses that help you deal with anxiety. Memorize them by heart so that when the time comes you are paralyzed with anxiousness, you can recite it and remind yourself that despite what you feel, God is with you and He will give you the peace that you need.
Take care of yourself mentally and physically
To deal with anxiety, you need to be fit mentally and physically as well.
Exercising is one of the activities that people recommend when dealing with anxiety. When you make it a habit to exercise, it puts your body in a good condition. It doesn’t just make you healthy physically but it is also proven to improve brain functions. As a beginner, I found myself trying indoor cycling during the cold winter months. It helped me fit in exercise despite the cold weather, and it was a convenient tool to alleviate stress.
You also have to take care of your mind whenever you have anxiety. How? By filtering the thoughts that you entertain. Whenever anxiety strikes, it only produces negative thoughts that make us worry and scared. But if you practice fighting these thoughts by filtering them and choosing to think of the present, it helps lessen the anxiousness.
Don’t be ashamed to seek help
There are certain levels of anxiety where a person can handle it on their own but if you know that you can’t handle it anymore and you need someone, don’t hesitate to seek help. Remember that there is nothing wrong with asking for guidance and help to people who have the ability to give assistance to your situation.
When I was dealing with anxiety, I always message and talk to people I trust. I ask for help and their positive inputs whenever I start to feel anxious and it really helped me a lot. Telling them about my anxious thoughts and struggles and knowing that they care and are willing to help me lessen the burden that I was carrying.
Embrace your flaw
The last thing I can share on how to deal with anxiety is this – learn to accept your weakness.
I started healing from anxiety when I acknowledged that I do have anxiety. The moment I embraced my flaw and that I have weakness in dealing with my anxiousness paved the way for my healing. It also was the perfect venue for God to display His redeeming power and grace in my life.
When you embrace your flaws and difficulty in dealing with anxiety, you will get to realize that it is beyond your powers and this will allow God to work in your life. You will get to see how faithful and willing He is to help you deal with your weakness.
How to deal with anxiety: Take your time
Dealing with anxiety can be difficult and it takes time to be able to overcome it. But take heart, you are not alone in that journey. Don’t forget that during times of anxiousness, God is with you. He will never leave you and forsake you. So, take a deep breath. That too shall come to pass.
