The truth about having a distant partner

Having some form of distance is okay. In fact, it can be healthy because there’s a saying that goes “Absence makes the heart grow fonder”. However, it is wise to also take note that too much absence may make the heart grow colder.

In this post, we will be looking at great ways on how to stay close to your distant partner.

Save your marriage from a distant partner

Do you feel like there’s more than underlying problems other than just being busy? Do you feel like you’re at the brink of divorce? I encourage you to watch this Save Your Marriage video, that has helped couples get through the roadblocks they experienced in their relationship.

How to be closer to your distant partner

1. Don’t find the time, make time for each other.

It’s not just vocabulary that’s different from my first point, there’s also a different meaning behind it. Finding time means just giving your spouse or your partner the leftovers. You only give a time when you’re busy, you’re tired, and what’s only left of the day.

Making time means actually scheduling something to bond with your loved one. This means actually giving the exact time to do things. When something is your priority, you give the best part of your day or week. Not just the leftovers.

2. Express your needs.

Part of communication and bridging the distance is just being open with your needs. Start with phrases such as “I feel like…” so that you won’t sound like you’re blaming your partner.

Words such as “I feel like we’re not spending enough time for each other” can help you have an open discussion on how you can improve your relationship. Using phrases such as “Why aren’t you spending time with me may sound like you’re blaming your partner.

Express your needs, but express it gracefully.

3. Maximize your time with each other.

Maximizing your time means making the best out of the time you have for each other. This could be going on date nights after work, having a meaningful conversation during dinner, or simply just cuddling in the best after a hard day’s work. Maximizing your time means that if you feel like there’s only a little time left for each other, you still get to have the quality moments that you crave for.

Stay away from smartphones when you spend time with each other. Be intentional and give your full attention.

4. Plan in advance

If you feel like your partner is being distant, you can think of date ideas that you can plan in advance. There are many discount sites that can help you have date ideas for less. These include discounts on restaurants, accommodations, or even vacation trips.

When you plan in advance, it lets your partner know that you want to spend time with them.

Go the distance: Solve your distant partner problems

Sometimes, distance isn’t just the lack of time. There could be deeper issues than that, and you’re partner may be hiding something or they are hesitant to communicate with you. In this case, you might need a better intervention. I suggest that you look into the Save Your Marriage video to help you bridge the gap between you and your partner.
