I get you. I know photography services can be costly, especially now during the pandemic where people are a bit tight on their budgets. Not to worry! I have some strategies you can do to still take that professional-looking photo even without a photographer to shoot and edit your shots.

How To Take Family Photos at Home: Tips for Professional-looking Photos
Use a tripod for better angles
Whether you’re looking for information on how to take photos at home with iPhone or an actual camera, having a tripod is the best bet for you to have professional-looking photos.
You can level your tripod so that the angles is at eye level or a little higher, making your images more appealing. Plus, the tripod also acts as a stabilizer for your images.
Don’t you also hate it when one family member needs to take the picture, leaving him out of your photos? Well, a tripod can hold the camera for phone for you, meaning all of you get to be in that perfect snapshot.
One of the best and affordable tripods that I recommend is the Vivitar Tripod for DSLR and the UBeesize for phones.
Choose a clutter-free backdrop
Another great tip on how to take family photos at home is using stellar backdrops. A clutter-free backdrop simply means an area where there are no unnecessary items that could ruin the composition of your photo. It could be a neatly furnished room or even clear plain wall. Place a sofa or bench if you prefer a sitting photo, or make your tripod higher if you prefer a standing pose.
A clutter-free backdrop can make all the difference in the quality of your pictures. If you don’t have a clutter-free backdrop available in your house, you can use a pre-made backdrop. The great thing about a pre-made backdrop is that they’re highly versatile. This means that you can use them for other occasions, such as anniversaries, baby shoots, and other occasions where you want to snap memories.
Lighting is key
A photo with poor lighting can be difficult to edit even with the best image editing tools available. Thus, you need to make sure that you get enough lighting to make your photos look vibrant. You can set your backdrop in front of a large window for natural light, or you can use a lamp light to make your photos bright with all the necessary details.
To get rid of the shadows, you can place a lamp on the angles where you notice the shadows are cast. Having the right lighting can give depth and detail with your family photos.
Use expert presets
Did you know that instead of relying on a photographer to post-process for you, you can actually get an editing preset that suits your style?
Presets are pre-programmed image editing settings that can make your images have the similar “look” and “vibe” to them. I just discovered how to use them recently during my blogging journey.
You can use Adobe Lightroom, a free app, or desktop application to edit your family photos. I am loving the TWUSS Presets, as Taylor from TWUSS sent me over some wonderful Adobe Lightroom presets that are light, airy, and gives my photos a special touch.
You can shop for her presets on this page to make your photos look fantastic.
